The Devil Flanders
The Devil Flanders
From the classic Treehouse of Horror IV episode where Homer sells his soul for a donut. Upon finishing the donut the Devil Flanders appears and attempts to drag Homer to Hell. Interrupted by the family, Lisa demands a fair trial leading the infamous line by the Devil Flanders “this is always so much easier in Mexico”. To the Devil’s dismay, Homer had previously given his soul to his wife Marge on their wedding day because he had nothing else of value to offer her. Leaving defeated the Devil Flanders curses Homer by saying “let that ill-gotten donut be forever on your head!”
Made 100% of borosilicate glass (even his chain!) and completely hollow from the top of the head, out to the elbows and down to his knees. Limiting the solid areas keeps the weight down. Standing 22cm (8.75in) this sculpture features a 10mm joint to butterfly gill perc give it the kind of function you’d expect from a daily driver. This piece is a study in maintaining high standards of functionality in the form of a person. That’s why I’ve included details such as Homer’s “soul donut” with the sign that reads “Don’t Eat” and “Keep Away” as a stopper for the joint. This completes the look and obscures it’s nature as a water pipe while adding the functionality of easier cleaning.
